Remembering Who You Are

For the last year or so, I have been dying my hair a color that is pretty, but for whatever reason, doesn’t really feel like me.

I didn't have language for it at first.

I just noticed it.

Then, over time, I noticed something else.

When my hair was first dyed, and darkest, it felt most like me.

Closer to my natural color.

Today, I could finally articulate what had been bothering me.

The color wasn't wrong.

It just wasn't quite me.

Lately I've been noticing this theme everywhere.

Not reinvention.

Not becoming someone new.

But remembering who you are.
