The Moments May Be Small. Their Impact Isn't.
This morning, I found myself sitting in the loft with a mug my friend gave me. It says Jessie's Way and has a goat and Capricorn symbols on it. Music played softly through my headphones while my cat slept on the bench overlooking the living room, keeping watch in the way only cats can.
I found myself delighting in a series of photographs. A dog curled at my friend’s feet. A cat nestled between us. Tiny moments that might seem insignificant to someone else, but somehow tell the whole story.
And it struck me that this is what life is about.
Not finding joy.
Not manufacturing joy.
Not pretending life is easier than it is.
Noticing.
The warm mug in your hands.
The sleeping cat.
The song that lands at just the right moment.
The friend who sends beautiful photographs.
The deep exhale that comes when something finally feels right.
The moments may be small. Their impact isn't.
Maybe that's what awe is.
Maybe that's what wonder is.
Not the extraordinary moments we spend our lives chasing, but the ordinary moments we finally stop long enough to see.
