It's More Than It Seems

On my way out of the cat cafe after a volunteer shift, I noticed an elderly gentleman I had seen before.

I introduced myself, and he told me he visits the cats every Friday.

As we chatted, he pulled gift after gift from his bag.

Cat treats. Toys. Tuna.

"Wow," I said. "You are quite the bearer of gifts."

The director accepted the donations and smiled.

"This is his routine," she said. "He is always generous."

As we talked, he named each cat and asked whether specific cats had been adopted.

He told us he was looking forward to meeting several of the new cats listed on the website.

Watching the scene unfold, I found myself thinking:

This place is much more than it seems.
