May We Never Lose Our Childlike Wonder

Yesterday, a friend I’ve known for 20 years came over to my place in Tucson for the first time.

It was fun showing her around.

To me, a home tells the story of a life. I watched as she looked at pictures of me and my little family and commented on things around the house, including the copper statues my husband and I got for our seventh anniversary.

Before long, I found myself bringing out some of my favorite things. Oracle cards. An astrology binder. Crystals. A deep exhale kit I made.

As I did this, I smiled to myself, thinking about the first time I met my stepson when he was 5-years-old. He could not wait to show me his toys. Within minutes, I was down on the ground playing Legos with him.

I texted my husband about this memory and he said,

“I laughed so hard at picturing you showing off all your toys.”

He got it.
