The Sticky Situation

Know what I love? Stickers.

Know what I have a ton of? Yep, that’s right. Stickers.

Know what I am? Indecisive.

Know what that means? You’ve probably guessed.

It means I don’t want to use my stickers because then they’re stuck (pun…sort of…intended)

wherever I stick them and

then if that place goes away or wears down or off,

then the sticker I have carefully

curated for my collection (that’s a lot of “c’s”) also goes away.

And I will miss it.

Nothing is permanent, after all.

But, darn it, my stickers should last and stay forever!

(It’s a thing. I’m working on it.)

So, for the longest time, I just kept stickers in a drawer or envelope

or somewhere that they were “put away.”

And I didn’t get to see them or enjoy them.

I started wondering what the point was.

And then I stopped buying them.

I’d see them, then say,

“Where will I put it?” which led to “No. I won’t stick them.”

But, thanks to the wonders of modern technology, about a dozen years ago,

I made a discovery.

Magnet sheets.

They are printable (as in, put the sheets in your printer, and

they run through), so the magnet is thin and just strong enough to hold on to a refrigerator.

The magnet doesn’t support a lot of weight, but we are talking about stickers, here.

Vinyl or paper.

The proverbial light bulb went on above my head.

I stuck my favorite stickers to magnet sheets and cut the stickers out.

Eureka!

I would never lose a favorite sticker again!

I got some new stickers to add to what was now my magnet collection.

And my sticker-magnets began adorning my refrigerator and my file cabinets in my office at work.

If it is a cute sticker, I would make it a magnet!

Except. There’s only so much metal surface on which to place my beautiful, permanent sticker collection.

And I was running out of it.

(It’s also a pain to clean around them, but I digress).

What to do now.

My friend also has the problem of a drawer full of stickers and the disinclination to use them permanently.

She did not like the idea of magnets, either.

You see, she likes a clean surface, an uncluttered front, the neat line.

But we struggled with the same indecision.

Where do we put our stickers so that we can enjoy them

rather than hide them, collect them without overwhelming our space,

and keep our spaces the way we like them.

She discovered sticker books. With Release Pages!

Double-sided release paper in a cute, inexpensive, small, spiral notebook

that allows me to stick my stickers with abandon…

and move them around when I want to and—GASP—use them if I have the notion!

They don’t lose their sticky, the pages can be reused,

and my stickers last as long as I want them to.

I have recently started my third sticker book.

Not that every single sticker I have is in them, but I have a place to keep my stickers.

And then if I want to use them permanently,

I just take them off the page and place them where I want them.

They stay sticky, and the page in the book sits ready and waiting for a new sticker to join.

I’m back to adding to my collection and I know where the stickers will go when I click

Add To Cart.

I will stick them.

And it’s so much fun to sit down with a stack of stickers and a book

and place those stickers on the pages where I can enjoy them any time I want

while keeping my spaces neat, my surfaces clean, and my stickers…forever!
